Seibu Railway: Check Chichibu Service Updates
If you are traveling from Tokyo to Chichibu, Seibu-Chichibu, or western Saitama, check the latest Seibu Railway service information before you leave.
Seibu Railway posts extra service information when delays of 15 minutes or more occur or are expected. Conditions can change quickly, so confirm the latest status shortly before departure.

Before You Leave for Chichibu
Check the official service page shortly before leaving your hotel or connecting station, especially during heavy rain, snow, typhoons, or other disruption-prone weather. If your train is delayed or suspended, confirm the next available service before heading to the platform.
This update is especially useful for travelers planning day trips to Chichibu, Hitsujiyama Park, or nearby areas. For a broader itinerary, see the Chichibu Travel Guide.
Getting to Chichibu from Tokyo
For many visitors, Seibu Railway is the most straightforward rail route from central Tokyo to Chichibu. The reserved-seat Laview limited express runs from Ikebukuro toward Seibu-Chichibu; Seibu lists the journey at about 77 minutes. All Laview limited-express seats are reserved, so you need both a regular fare and a limited-express ticket.
If you use ordinary trains instead, allow more time and check your connections. The Chichibu tourism organization notes that regular Seibu journeys generally require a change at Hanno. Suica and PASMO can be used on the Seibu route.
Useful tickets for sightseeing
If your plans include several stops around Chichibu or Nagatoro, compare the official Chichibu Free Ticket before buying separate fares. It combines a discounted round trip on Seibu Railway with unlimited travel for two days on specified Seibu and Chichibu Railway sections, plus discounts at participating facilities. Always check the current price and conditions on the official page before travel.
If your train is disrupted
- Refresh Seibu Railway’s official service-information page; Seibu publishes additional information when delays of 15 minutes or more occur or are expected.
- Also follow announcements at the station and on your train, because conditions on the ground can change faster than a webpage.
- If you are connecting to Chichibu Railway for Nagatoro or Mitsumineguchi, check that operator’s status separately.
- Keep your sightseeing plan flexible during typhoons, heavy rain, snow, or other severe weather.

Common questions before boarding
Does this article show live train status?
No. This is a planning guide, not a live disruption feed. Open Seibu Railway’s official service page for current notices and follow station announcements. A quiet status page does not guarantee that every train is on time.
What should I check before reserving my journey?
Write down your departure station, destination and preferred travel time. Check whether the route uses a limited express, requires a connection, or includes another railway. Plan the return trip as well as the outward journey, especially when you will continue to a mountain attraction.
Where can I search routes and check the weather?
Our Japan weather and train planning guide links directly to destination forecasts, a transportation route planner and maps. Use a route planner for connections and the railway operator for disruption notices.
